Volunteer Pre-Kindergarten, Preschool Curriculum, and Child Day Care Services in St. Petersburg, FL

Give your child a boost in his or her education through the volunteer pre-kindergarten (VPK) program at Country Learning Academy here in St. Petersburg, Florida. In our Preschool Program, we follow the Creative Curriculum and we offer day care services for children starting at age one.

VPK Program

School doesn't start in kindergarten anymore. Fall VPK with extended wraparound care gives children a jump start in the enhancement of pre-reading, pre-math, language, and social skills.
Our center is one of the Private Child Care Providers who has been a part of and offering the VPK Program since it was first introduced here in Pinellas County. To be eligible for the program children must be four years old before September 1st. Our Centers hours for the Fall VPK program are 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
We offer VPK during the school year, (School Year Program). It is 540 hours of instruction, which is 3 hours each day. Before and after care or Wrap around care would be for the hours before VPK (6:30am to 9:00am) and after VPK (12:00 noon to 5:45pm). Our VPK classroom size can be up to 11 children with 1 teacher or up to 18 children with 2 teachers. Our Lead Teacher has a Degree in Early Childhood Education.

Our center staff uses the Creative Curriculum to work with the children each day. This curriculum helps in understanding the essential role of the teacher in connecting subject matter, with teaching and learning for the children. It is effective in helping to understand and build a developmentally appropriate program with nurturing routines, meaningful experiences and trusting relationships for the children and families we work with. The approach is based on organizational structure and focus on interest areas throughout the classroom. We utilize individual structure and use progressions to plan age appropriate experiences. Our classroom communities are created and we learn how to care for our class and our work. We practice social problem solving skills. In a nutshell, our teachers are here to help guide the children's learning.

Each child is different and may not be developing at the same rate. The Teaching Strategies Gold screening tool helps us to see where every child is and know what we need to focus on to help them over their developmental milestones.

Child Day Care

It sounds like “babysitting”, but at our center, we offer the same developmentally appropriate learning opportunities for all the children from age one to five. We incorporate learning into fun activities. Though it may seem like we are playing games (fine motor dev., social skills), singing (language), dancing (gross motor), we are learning. Our lessons reflect that each day. We plan all activities and hands-on experiences for the enrichment of the mind and body.

Creative expression and character development is part of our curriculum, which helps children not only develop their own personality, but helps them become independent, inquisitive, and enthusiastic about learning. We prepare and serve nutritional meals and snacks every day at our location.
Our services includes but is not limited to the following:
  • Activity-Based Learning
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Music
  • Science & Nature Activities
  • Dramatic Play
